LOS Angeles, CA – Feb 19 2025 – William Schaeuble’s latest body of work will be presented by Povos Gallery at the Felix Art Fair in Los Angeles, February 19–23, 2025. The new series of paintings captures transient moments and imagined journeys, exploring themes of travel, impermanence, and the spaces between destinations. Each piece in this collection reflects the artist’s fascination with the idea of movement and the unspoken stories behind seemingly ordinary moments. In all of these works, figures are depicted on the move—whether climbing trees, fleeing danger, or pursuing personal quests. These figures—always in transit, caught between departure and arrival—evoke the common curiosity we feel while staying in a hotel: “Where is everyone going?”
The works in this series are deeply influenced by Schaeuble’s own family road trips and personal travels. The vibrant scenes weave together memories of small-town festivals, like the annual Pancake Day in Centerville, Iowa, and regional landmarks like a tree in the middle of the road. It’s a cool tree, but if you’re not paying attention, you’ll crash right into it. Other works reflect more personal moments, such as Schaeuble’s ongoing battle with coyotes after one attacked his dog, or the feeling of loss and reflection while navigating emotional transitions, including a breakup he navigated behind the wheel of a red van.
Schaeuble’s paintings invite viewers to pause and reflect on the fleeting nature of life’s journey. None of the places in the paintings are final destinations; they are always somewhere along the way. This collection presents a poignant reminder of how our most significant moments often take place during the in-between, where the journey itself becomes as meaningful as the destination.

About the Artist
William Schaeuble (b.1999) is an American painter, amateur outdoorsman, and aspiring bird watcher. Schaeuble’s work focuses on telling stories of his personal life in connection to the broader world of contemporary culture, art history, and the great outdoors. His works are semi-autobiographical, filled with figures, animals, nicknacks, lovers, enemies, locations, and themes that all come from the artist’s personal life. He depicts certain memories and moments from his life that stand out enough to spend extra time with. The Artist alters those memories through a lens of humor and intimate reference of what was occupying the mind at the time, turning the work into a body of documentary paintings. Schaeuble grew up in Iowa and graduated from The School Of The Art Institute of Chicago. He now splits his time between Chicago and his family’s home in Iowa.
